Today’s forecast:
Today, it’s another hot summer day in Houston! Our forecast is for slightly below average temperatures, but due to the heat and humidity it will “feel” like 103 degrees in some places today. That's because more than 450,000 customers are still without power after Hurricane Beryl hit Houston on Monday.
Track the rain:
We will continue to watch and track the potential for localized showers and thunderstorms. Most of the storm will occur near and north of the coast in areas like Winnie. However, Futuretrack shows the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Houston and Jersey Village areas around 7pm tonight.
Track the tropics:
There is no tropical activity in the Gulf, Caribbean Sea or Atlantic Ocean. The only area of concern is a series of storms off the northern coast of Florida. The threat these storms pose to Debbie is now virtually nil.
Another factor that keeps the tropics quiet are the huge dust deposits of the Sahara Desert, which help suppress the development of tropical waves at this time.
10-day forecast:
For those without power, it will be very uncomfortable until power is restored. Later this week, a cold front will keep temperatures slightly below average, dropping into the mid-80s.
