    Today's daily numbers

A subjective rating of the day's weather on a scale of 0 to 10.

2/10: Will the more normal July weather be nice while it lasts? perhaps? Back in the mid-to-early 90s, this was probably the coolest of the next three days.

    Quick forecast

    • today: Mostly sunny. Lost in the afternoon storm? High tide: the middle and upper classes in the 1990s.
    • tonight: Mostly clear and muggy. Lows: Low to mid 70s.
    • tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Isolated afternoon storm? Highs: Upper 90s to near 100s.

    Detailed forecast

Temperatures are rising again today, and while it will be hot with highs reaching the mid to upper 90s, Monday and Tuesday are looking to be even hotter. The heat index should be around 100 in some places today, then around 105 to 110 Monday into Tuesday. Any showers or storms will likely be isolated until the front approaches on Wednesday with a greater chance of rain.

Today (Sunday): The front that covered the area earlier this weekend slides toward the southeast today. This allows for plenty of sunshine and afternoon temperatures that can climb into the 90s. The high humidity in the morning will ease somewhat by the afternoon, but is still enough to push the heat index into the upper 90s to upper 100s. Showers or storms are possible in the afternoon. Reliability: high

tonight: There is still a chance of showers or storms in the evening. Otherwise, the weather is mostly sunny, muggy, and mild, with lows in the low 70s. Reliability: high

Tomorrow (Monday): Similar to Sunday, but maybe a few degrees hotter. Afternoon highs should be in the 90s and near 100 with clear skies. The humidity is still not as bad as expected, but a heat index near or above 105 is in the danger zone. Remember to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated. Only showers or thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon. Trust: medium to high

Tomorrow evening: Isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible during the evening. Overnight lows will only drop into the mid-70s, with partly cloudy skies. Trust: medium to high

    Looking to the future

The heat may rise to another level Tuesday, humidity also showed an upward trend. The current maximum temperature is close to 100, and the heat index may approach or reach around 110. Reliability: Medium

Our next front is coming Wednesday. This should bring a greater chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon into evening. However, the hot weather continues, with partly sunny skies, temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s, and high humidity. Reliability: Medium

Dan Stillman contributed to this prediction.
