BENTON, Ky. – On Tuesday, May 28, Aaron Dripps appeared in court for the fourth time in connection with the Jan. 25 death of Stephen Odom.
No new information was presented during the hearing, but Dripps' attorneys responded to prosecutors' motions and agreed to provide information requested by prosecutors during discovery.
Dripps was initially charged with murder and convicted of being a felon in possession of a handgun. After a preliminary hearing in February, the case was sent to a grand jury, which added charges of purchase/possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree terroristic threats, possession of marijuana and trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree, first offense , a more serious crime.
According to a news release from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a shooting on West Unity Church Road around 5:34 p.m. was pronounced dead.
During the Feb. 7 hearing, Detective Aaron Lane testified that police arrived at the scene and detained Dripps and a woman named Jennifer Remy. Remy, who claimed to be Odom's girlfriend at the time of his death, was found at Dripps' home.
Prior to May 28, Dripps' last court appearance was on March 26.
The next hearing is scheduled for August 13 at 8:30 a.m.
