The Chicago area experienced numerous weather warnings Sunday night as strong winds and heavy rain affected the area.
Recently, a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 12:30 a.m. for parts of LaSalle, Will and Grundy counties, as well as Kendall County.
Additionally, a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until midnight for southeastern Cook County, Illinois, and northern Lake County and Porter County, Indiana.
Some storms could eventually linger into early Monday morning, according to forecast models.
Once the storm finally ends, conditions should become drier in the morning and early afternoon, paving the way for sweltering heat and elevated dew points.
High temperatures on Monday could soar into the 90s, with high humidity pushing the heat index to 100 to 105 degrees, according to NBC 5 Storm Team.
Clouds will also begin to accumulate, setting the stage for another night of stormy weather.
Here's what to expect later:
Monday night
Strong to severe thunderstorms could light up the night across the region, with the Storm Prediction Center putting northern Illinois and northern Indiana at an “enhanced” risk for severe storms.
All severe weather threats are possible, including flooding-causing rain, gusty winds, hail and tornadoes.

Rainfall is expected to persist in the area but slowly become more scattered, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
One or two scattered showers are possible during the day Tuesday, with highs in the mid-80s.
