CONNECTICUT – Storms are possible Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon, some potentially severe, according to WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.
“A series of storms will develop in New York this afternoon and move into Connecticut tonight” said the WFSB 3 television forecaster. “Given how hot and humid we are going to get, these storms should persist as they move into our state. The strongest ones are likely to be heavy winds and rain, accompanied by lightning and thunder. The Storm Prediction Center continues to emphasize a Category 2 severe weather risk east of I91 and a Category 1 risk for the rest of the state.
WFSB 3 TV meteorologists say it will continue to be hot Wednesday with temperatures in the 90 to 95 degree range.
“A few afternoon storms could briefly lower temperatures in some towns and could be accompanied by gusty winds, heavy downpours and frequent lightning,” a WFSB 3 television meteorologist said of the possibility of Wednesday's storms. The severe weather risk is currently Level 2 for central and northwest/southwest Connecticut and Level 1 for the rest of the state. There may be standing water or even poor drainage leading to flooding. Tomorrow's storms will be more widespread than in previous days as the cold front approaches. This front will also be key to relieving the heat and humidity!
There will be showers and some isolated storms Thursday morning, with the weather improving later Thursday and continuing into the weekend.
