EL DORADO, Ill. — Crews are cleaning up and assessing damage at a local hospital.
“Then this happened – water entered the hospital through the front door and flooded the front of the hospital, including the lobby, cafeteria, portions of the emergency room, our clinic space and several other ancillary departments,” Keane said. ”
Once the water starts coming in, there's not much they can do, Keane said.
“We have multiple drainage systems leading up to the car park and unfortunately due to the amount of rainfall the drainage systems were flooded,” he said. But they have already started clearing it.
“At this time, we have a restoration crew on site. They are working overnight to be able to finish draining the water and setting up equipment to dry the items,” he said.
He said there is currently no timetable for reopening. They are in contact with the Illinois Department of Public Health.
“They have been informed of our situation. We have industrial hygienists on the way to help us develop a cleaning plan. Once the cleaning plan is developed, we will work with the Illinois Department of Health to recertify the facility,” he said.
He thanked all other hospitals in the area for their support. “Health care is a very tight-knit community … and they all reach out to one person and offer any help they can,” he said.
