BALTIMORE – It's another hot day across the region, with temperatures in the high 90s in most areas. Heat index values will reach 100 to 105 degrees in most areas in the afternoon, with parts of the East Coast possibly reaching close to 110 degrees.
A cold front will approach the area in the afternoon and evening, bringing a good chance for showers and thunderstorms. We expect some of the storms to be severe, with the biggest threats coming from damaging wind gusts and large hail. The best chance for storms will occur in the evening and late evening before the storm weakens and pushes eastward.
Some scattered fog may develop overnight under partly cloudy skies, with low temperatures dropping into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Skies are expected to be partly cloudy Thursday, with a few showers possible into the morning and early afternoon, especially south of Baltimore. High temperatures on Thursday will be significantly cooler, with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Humidity will also be significantly reduced.
These lower humidity values will allow us to have a comfortably cool night Thursday night with lows dropping into the 60s. Friday is expected to be sunny with highs in the mid-80s.
The front will stall to our south starting over the weekend and begin to move back north as a warm front heading into next week. With the warm front approaching, there will be a slightly better chance of showers and storms Sunday afternoon. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s on Saturday, with highs near 90 degrees on Sunday.
Clouds, showers and storms are expected next week as a warm front moves through the region. Scattered storms are expected, especially in the afternoons Monday through Wednesday, with temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees and overnight lows dropping into the upper 70s to low 70s.
