Meteorologist April Loveland's first warning forecast
A heat warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Heat index up to 109°
Dangerously high temperatures will continue to this day. Temperatures will drop a few degrees in the low to mid 90s, but dew points will be slightly higher, so heat index values will be close to 109° again.
A slow-moving cold front will move in later in the day and bring showers and storms.
Strong to severe storms are not out of the question. Parts of the area are below Severe Storm Category 1. The Peninsula and East Coast are Level 2.
There is a better chance of wet weather Thursday. Scattered storms are possible Thursday, with high temperatures dropping into the upper 80s. A few storms are expected on Friday, with highs reaching 80 degrees. There is a risk of flooding on Thursday and Friday.
It looks like the storms will continue into the weekend. Temperatures will remain cooler this time of year, with highs in the mid-80s. Saturday looks to be a wetter day.
Monday and Tuesday will bring showers and storms, with highs in the mid-80s.
