LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – After a long spell of dry weather, Kentucky is finally getting some welcome amounts of precipitation.
Showers and thunderstorms are moving through the area, bringing a refreshing change. While the rain is not expected to last throughout the day, it is a significant improvement compared to the hot and humid weather that has plagued the state.
Cold front brings relief
A cold front brings rain, and its arrival signals a major shift in weather patterns. As it moves through Kentucky, the muggy, humid weather we've become familiar with is ending.

Kentuckians can expect a period of amazing weather once the cold front clears the area. Dry weather is expected on Friday and Saturday with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. The heat and humidity will become a distant memory, replaced by fresh, clean air and a sense of relaxation.

While the dry spell will be a welcome respite, it won't last forever. Scattered storms will return on Sunday with the potential for additional rainfall. However, temperatures will remain normal or below normal throughout the week to ensure heat and humidity remain within range.
