A leading weather expert has claimed what locals are seeing on the west coast is a “clear sign” of Indian summer.
Massive swarms of jellyfish have been spotted in coastal waters by Mayo locals who claim the gathering is a sure sign that the Indian summer is coming.

He wrote on Twitter: “My pictures show hundreds of jellyfish on Old Hyde beach in Lewisburg, County Mayo today. Locals say the gathering is a sure sign that the Indian summer is coming.”
Temperatures in June were nearly 10 degrees below average, but rainfall was well above average. July didn't start much better, with temperatures continuing to be below average for July. So any potential hint of improved weather is certainly appreciated.
However, ahead of a potential Indian Summer, Ireland looks set to be hit by an Atlantic storm next week. The troublesome jet stream, which has wreaked havoc on our summer so far, is “increasing” its ability to do just that.
Meteorologist Daniel aka The Snow Dreamer posted on social media: “The average geopotential height anomaly of 500mb over the past 10 months tells a remarkable story and is far from normal.”
Meanwhile, Met Éireann has released its latest forecast for the coming days. The rain will move eastward tonight and temperatures will be mild tonight, with highs of 11 – 13 degrees.

The maximum temperature will be 18 to 20 degrees, with the central area being the warmest, with light to moderate westerly winds.
