Karnataka's major move to support private sector reservations for locals sparks controversy, industry giants object
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the state cabinet has approved a bill providing for 100% reservation of private sector businesses for Kannadigas or local residents. This quota will be used for C-level and D-level positions in these companies, he said. However, industry giants are opposed to it, with some saying the bill is “discriminatory” and “regressive” while others say it cannot affect the state's leading position as a technology hub. read more
