Maintaining positive mental health builds resilience, allowing individuals to respond to life's challenges with clarity, strength, and resilience. It helps us build meaningful relationships and realize our full potential. Neglecting our mental health can have a negative impact on every aspect of our lives, not only on us as individuals but also on the communities around us.
To help create a climate of understanding and empathy within the Department of Meteorology and the wider School of Mathematics, Physics and Computational Sciences, we have taken several steps.

timehe School Now There is a group of colleagues who are trained as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA). timeheir role is a point of contact for one colleague Who are experiencing mental health issues or emotional distress. Mental health first aiders are not trained as therapists or Psychiatrist, but they can supply Provide initial support through non-judgmental listening and guidance.

Group activity on Tuesday 14th May 3.30-4.30pm (GU01, Brian Hoskins Building)
The event will bring together members of our school community to share their personal insights and experiences. We hope this will encourage people to talk more freely about mental health, reduce stigma and create a more positive culture within schools. We will also highlight information sources and guidance for students, faculty and staff. All faculty, staff and doctoral students are welcome!
