Wednesday afternoon, showers and storms develop along a cold front north of the Concho Valley and drift south into the northern counties of the KLST viewing area. A 45-minute severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northwestern Cocke County and northeastern Sterling County, followed by another warning for northwestern Tom Green County with heavy rain along Highway 87 between Water Valley and Broome. According to reports, strong gusts of wind blew through the Wall community. In the late afternoon, a near-stationary thunderstorm between Miles and Welibest poured heavy rain. Forecasts call for a second round of storms to develop overnight and before sunrise, most likely heading south from San Angelo toward I-10. After showers and storms Thursday morning, only scattered storms are expected in the afternoon. Rain chances will increase again Saturday night, with significant rainfall possible on Sunday and Monday. It will be a big change of pace with temperatures staying around July averages (but below 100 degrees) on Thursday and Friday, approaching 100 degrees on Saturday, lows in the 90s on Sunday, and over 80 degrees early next week.
