    Today's daily numbers

A subjective rating of the day's weather on a scale of 0 to 10.

6/10: The heat wave is finally over. Cheers to everyone!

    Quick forecast

    • today: Partly cloudy with low humidity. Separate shower? Highs: 85 to 91.
    • tonight: There are isolated showers and storms, mainly in the south. Low: 61 to 69.
    • tomorrow: Mainly sunny days with light wind and moderate humidity. Highs: 84 to 90.

    Detailed forecast

You'd be forgiven if today feels like a new lease of life. The return to normal temperatures should continue through the weekend. The outlook for showers is a little murky, as the front that pushed the storm last night didn't make it very far south of us. This could allow storms and higher humidity to sneak into our area again over the weekend.

Today is thursday): Most of the showers and storms should be in the southern part of the area by dawn. Still, there's enough instability to leave a small chance of isolated showers at any time during the day. Most of us stayed dry, enjoying less hot and humid air and breezy northerly winds. Highs range from the mid-80s to near 90.

tonight: There may be some scattered showers in the evening, but they will disappear soon after sunset. A light breeze from the north continues under partly cloudy skies. Lows range into the 60s. Reliability: high

Tomorrow (Friday): It's a good day to be out and about, with highs mainly in the mid-to-upper 80s and humidity levels under control (dew point near 60). Plenty of sunshine, with only scattered clouds in the afternoon. The northeasterly wind remains weak. Reliability: high

Tomorrow evening: Temperatures slowly dropped into the 70s, with dry air and calm winds making for a nice night. Overnight lows were mainly in the mid-60s. Reliability: high

    Looking to the future

Let's start our weekend Saturday Watching the south warily. Moisture looks likely to rush back into the area as a weak disturbance moves northeast along the front. This brings the risk of showers and afternoon storms. Fortunately, the heat was still kept out thanks to plenty of cloud cover and temperatures mainly in the mid to upper 80s. Showers may continue into the night. Lows drop into the low 60s to low 70s. Reliability: Medium

Right now it looks like the front may be concave back a little to the south Sunday. But the humidity is rising and the dew point is back around 70. Highs should climb into the upper 80s to lower 90s and overnight lows should climb into the upper 60s to lower 70s. Trust: low-medium

A new round of showers and storms possible on Monday Because another riot could move along the front lines to our southern areas. The greatest potential for major storms is south of the city. Highest range is mid-80s to late 90s. Trust: low-medium
