LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas residents can expect a break from the typically hot July weather as temperatures are expected to drop in the coming days. A cool, dry air mass will move into the state, providing relief from the typical summer heat, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
Temperatures will reach the mid-80s across much of the state on Friday, with places like Fort Smith, Little Rock and Hot Springs reaching around 86 degrees. This trend of cooler than normal temperatures will continue into the weekend. Low temperatures Saturday morning will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s, eventually warming into the upper 80s and lower 90s in the afternoon.
Sunday will follow a similar pattern with morning lows in the upper 60s to upper 70s and afternoon highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Although temperatures are rising slightly, they will still be below average for this time of year.
Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast starting Monday. Little Rock has a 55% chance of rain, with temperatures ranging from a low of 69°F in the morning to a high of 84°F in the afternoon. This pattern will continue into Wednesday, with a 45% chance of rain and temperatures between 71°F and 86°F. Residents are advised to stay informed of weather warnings and be prepared for possible thunderstorms during this period.
