UPDATE: A flash flood warning for the valley should expire at 4:15 p.m. Thursday. The heat alert was upgraded to an overheat warning from Saturday to Sunday.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a flash flood warning for multiple locations in Mount Charleston. Additionally, thunderstorms are moving into the valley from the south.
According to social media posts, the weather service said nearly an inch of rain was observed on the mountains in the last hour. The weather service said heavy rain will continue to fall and cause flash flooding, affecting Kyle Canyon, Fletcher Canyon and Lee Canyon. The warning is in effect until 3:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms moving into the valley produced high winds and rainfall near Harry Reid International Airport as they moved north through the mid-valley.
Around 1 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Clark County, including Las Vegas, Rainbow Canyon and Red Rock Canyon. The weather service said the warning will last until 3:45 p.m.
Shortly after, they issued a flash flood warning for areas of Henderson and the southeastern Las Vegas Valley. Flash flooding is expected in low-lying areas and roads with low water levels, the National Weather Service said.
On Thursday, 8 News Now crews encountered standing water at Boulder Highway and Russell Road and Galleria Drive and Burns Road in Henderson.
