Temperatures will drop by 10°C in some areas over the weekend
Friday (July 19)
Today (July 19) the southern regions of the Gard, Var, Vaucluse or Rhône estuaries may experience high temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius, with temperatures along the Mediterranean coast and in the southern interior reaching at least 35 degrees Celsius. .
Temperatures will be above average elsewhere, with maximums reaching at least 25C in almost all areas. Temperatures will reach 35 degrees Celsius in some areas of the Loire Valley.
Temperatures will rise in the late afternoon in the north and continue throughout the country until later in the day – by 21:00, parts of Paris, the West Coast and Occitanie are expected to remain between 28C and 32C between.
Although the late-night high temperatures won't last long enough to issue a warning.

Some storms are expected in central France and the Rhône River, with winds expected to reach 100 km/h but weaken in the evening.
Saturday (July 20)
A powerful storm will move across the country, starting in the southwest in the morning and slowly moving northeast.
The winds are most severe in central and eastern France, as well as in the Pyrenees and Rhône regions.
Hail and winds of up to 100 kilometers per hour are expected, which could hit any area in the storm's path. Up to 70 millimeters of rain are expected in parts of central France.
Areas in southeastern France and along the German border will be unaffected on Saturday and will continue to experience above-normal temperatures.
Sunday (July 21)
By Sunday (July 21), the storm will be mainly concentrated in the far east of the country, along the German border.
Although no rain is expected, other parts of France will face a sharp drop in temperatures.
Temperatures in Lyon and the south will drop by about 10 degrees Celsius from Saturday to Sunday. Temperatures in the southwest will drop by about 8 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures are tentatively forecast to remain below average early next week, with rainfall in the north. Temperatures will start to climb again later this week and skies should be clear.
There are currently a number of lower level two warnings in place for a heat wave in southern France and a storm in central France.
