The Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal body on Friday sealed an engineering firm associated with controversial Indian Administrative Service (IAS) trainee officer Puja Khedkar's mother, civic officials said There is a connection because the company has unpaid property tax of nearly Rs 2 lakh.
The junior bureaucrat's mother, Manorama Khedkar, is currently in the custody of the Pune police in connection with a criminal case.

Notably, Puja Khedkar gave the location of the engineering firm as her residential address when she applied for a disability certificate at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCM) in Pimpri-Chinchwad town for admission into the civil services under quota selection.
“The property tax of Thermoverita India Pvt Ltd for the year 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 has been pending for the past two years. Besides, the outstanding amounts for the current year are also pending. Since they did not pay their dues in 2023, first they (owners) received Notice and later as a graded response, we first disconnected their water connection due to non-payment of dues for the past two years and our next step was to seal the property.
He said the total amount owed for the past two years was Rs 1.96 lakh and if this year's dues were added, the amount to be paid would reach Rs 2.77 lakh.
Manorama Khedkar was arrested by Pune rural police on Thursday in connection with a land dispute in Dhadwali village of Mulshi tehsil in 2023 He threatened some people with guns.
Adding to Puja Khedkar's troubles, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday took a slew of actions, including registering a case with the police, accusing the batch of IAS trainee officers of committing fraud in the civil services examination by forging their identities.
The commission also issued a show-cause notice disqualifying her candidacy for the Civil Services Examination 2022 and barring her from appearing in future examinations and selections.
