EAST FALLOWFIELD TWP. (WPVI) — Thousands of PECO customers remained without power Thursday after severe storms earlier in the week.
The storm brought damaging winds (gusting over 55 mph) and heavy rain.
“Can't find any relief other than sitting in the shade and holding on,” said Andrew Benmbark of East Fallowfield Township. “Praying that something will happen soon. Just dragging on, another day, There’s no motivation. It’s really hard to function.”
Bembak was one of thousands of about 130,000 people who lost power Tuesday night, and one of 20,000 people still without power in Chester County.

At the Triple Fresh Market in East Fallowfield Township, they are running generators to keep their refrigerators and freezers functioning.
“We'll do what we can. A lot of dry ice,” said Cheryl Welker, marketing administrative assistant. “We're limited in the amount of food we can provide. We're starting to clear some things out now to try to count the amount of food we've lost.”
PECO said crews are continuing to deal with damage to major trees and infrastructure following two rounds of severe weather.
To support this effort, nearly 400 mutual aid field workers from Alabama, Indiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Virginia work with PECO crews and contractors to address damage and restore for customers Serve.
Cleanup efforts were still underway Thursday morning.
“It's hot. So, go ahead and rest,” said Tree of Life owner Jay Gibbs.
Gibbs and his team focused on the historic buildings along First Avenue in Coatesville.
“There were about 20 trees, 20 of them big trees,” Gibbs said. “It's going to be hard.”
PECO expects to have service restored to nearly all customers by Friday evening.
