Record wet weather likely for southern regions
A slow-moving cold front in the southern United States has become the focus of heavy rain in parts of the region. Wet weather will continue for several days as the front lines are grounded. From Texas to Virginia, there is a near daily chance of rain through the middle of next week. The heaviest rainfall is expected to hit the Louisiana coast on Monday.
Hot summer as West faces another dangerous heat wave
The West has had little respite from the summer heat, with another heat wave set to bake the region this weekend. Heat warnings have been issued from Washington state to Arizona. Phoenix officials say more than 20 people have died due to heat so far this year, and hundreds more deaths are under investigation.
