An unusual July pattern is about to sweep across North Texas, bringing a chance for rain and well-below-normal temperatures. While Saturday was sunny and dry, Sunday was a different story. A disturbance will move in from the northwest, causing scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop. Rain is possible in our western counties later today, but will be delayed for the Dallas-Fort Worth area until later tonight and Sunday morning. A few thunderstorms may produce gusty winds, but the overall threat of severe weather is low. A period of wet weather is expected on Sunday, but there will also be a few hours of dry weather in between.
Another round of heavy rain is possible on Monday. Additional rainfall is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. All in all, several inches of rain could fall over the next few days.
Meanwhile, there is no sign of a return to triple digits this week. This is noteworthy considering we are entering the statistically hottest period of the year.
