It will be a warm day in San Diego County, with daytime highs 5 to 10 degrees above average.
Marine layers have been deposited in our coastal communities and coastal valley areas by Saturday morning. Sunny conditions will continue throughout the morning and afternoon, with partly clear skies across the region on Saturday.
A heat advisory has been issued for inland valleys and mountains from Friday to Sunday, with temperatures near 94 to 102 degrees. An overheat warning was issued for the desert area from Friday to Sunday, with temperatures around 115 degrees.
By the afternoon, there will be some cloud cover over the beaches, but temperatures will remain steady in the 70s. Wave heights are typically two to four feet with moderate rip currents. If you go into the water, be sure to swim near the lifeguard tower. If you encounter a rip current, swim parallel to the shore (never against the current), then swim back to shore once you are out of the rip current.
Monsoon humidity will decrease over the next few days, so there will be a lower chance of afternoon thunderstorms in our local mountains. We will see moisture return early next week.
Next week will still be unseasonably hot, but it doesn't look like it will be as hot as the weekend. Meanwhile, our mountain and desert areas can expect a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon.
