Heavy rains in Mumbai, Maharashtra, caused severe flooding in many areas of the financial capital, paralyzing traffic.
It is understood that heavy rain for the third consecutive day has led to the closure of many roads, diversion of traffic on many lines, and flooding.
A traffic police official said that due to waterlogging, Andheri Metro has been temporarily closed to vehicular traffic and traffic has been diverted to SV Road.
According to officials, most lines covered by local trains are operating normally, but traffic has been severely affected.
Road traffic near Sheetal Cinema and Kale Marg in Korla district was diverted due to waterlogging.
Similarly, traffic on Goregaon East Aarey route has been diverted to Seepz-Marol Maroshi-JVLR in both directions, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said.
Chembur Link Road, a busy traffic junction connecting South Mumbai to Thane, reportedly had nearly a foot and a half of water on the road due to the incessant downpour.
