Despite a tumultuous and historic start to the week for the Chicago area, which experienced a severe weather outbreak that resulted in a record number of tornadoes, the weekend is shaping up to be a pleasant one.
Significant cloud cover is expected throughout the day, but some sunshine is possible in some areas.
Temperatures will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s Saturday morning and are expected to climb later in the afternoon, with highs expected to be near 80 degrees.
While temperatures are expected to rise 10 to 12 degrees across much of the region, areas near Lake Michigan may experience slightly cooler temperatures Saturday.
Cloud cover is likely to increase further Saturday night, with overnight temperatures dropping into the upper 60s. Although widespread precipitation is unlikely, a few light showers or drizzle may occur overnight.
Similar conditions are likely to play out on Sunday, with highs again hovering around 80 degrees and partly sunny skies.
While Saturday is expected to remain dry, isolated showers are possible on Sunday.
This week is expected to bring another day similar to Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the mid-80s and partly cloudy skies.
From that point, storm chances will return to expected, with isolated thunderstorms possible Tuesday afternoon and thunderstorms expected Wednesday.
