DENVER (KDVR) – Showers and storms are expected Sunday along with below-average temperatures. This all comes before the area warms back into the 90s and dries out through the middle of the week and into the weekend.

Today's weather: Below average temperatures, rain

It will be cloudy in the morning and temperatures will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s when we head out. Temperatures will slowly but surely rise into the mid-to-upper 70s, about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than average for this time of year.

There will also be more rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, mainly in the afternoon.

The worst storms are likely to hit areas south of Denver, including Colorado Springs and Pueblo, where the risk of severe weather is minimal, around level zero to level five.

    Tonight's weather: continued showers

Showers and storms are expected before midnight, with overnight temperatures dropping into the low 50s.

Ahead: More rain and cooler air to start the week, then warmer and drier

Monday is expected to be cooler, with highs in the low 80s, with more showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon.

Sunshine is starting to return to the forecast on Tuesday. A warming trend will follow. Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid 80s, lows on Wednesday will be in the mid 90s, and Thursday and Friday will be in the mid 90s.

Rain is expected to return on Saturday, but as of Sunday's forecast, the rain looks isolated.
