Crews continue to make progress, successfully restoring power to nearly 60% of customers affected by Hurricane Beryl
Entergy Texas crews continue to make progress and have successfully restored power to nearly 60% of the 252,460 customers affected by the storm. As of 1 p.m. Thursday, some 149,400 customers had been restored.
Many of the remaining outages occurred in heavily damaged areas that required extensive repairs. Damage assessments are still ongoing, but recent reports indicate 407 downed utility poles, 202 damaged transformers, 614 damaged cross arms, and approximately 657,000 feet of wire in need of replacement.
Entergy Texas has a restoration team of more than 2,400 people working around the clock, using special equipment such as helicopters to travel to hard-hit areas. While some customers may recover sooner, the expected recovery chart below shows expected recovery dates based on current damage assessments and weather forecasts.
Customers should be aware that sometimes companies restore power to an area only to discover another problem. This may require turning off the power again to complete other repairs. Crews will also make initial repairs in certain areas to get power to as many customers as possible. Crews then have to return to take customers out of service and complete longer-term repairs.
