Alerts and Forecasts for Vidarbha Region
The IMD has also predicted that Nagpur and other parts of Vidarbha region are likely to receive heavy rainfall with the possibility of heavy showers in the next two days. A red alert has been issued for Chandrapur and an orange alert has been issued for Nagpur, Amravati and Wardha districts. Nagpur has been witnessing heavy showers since Friday, with the Nagpur Airport Observatory recording 90.6 mm of rainfall in 24 hours at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Heavy rains in Mumbai cause flooding, traffic diversions
Mumbai and its suburbs were hit by intermittent heavy rainfall on Saturday, leading to flooding in several areas. Nonetheless, the latest updates from Western Railway and Central Railway confirm that local train services have not been affected.
Key areas affected by flooding and traffic diversions:
- Korla: Traffic was diverted near Sheetal Cinema and Kale Marg due to waterlogging.
- Gorgon East: Traffic on the Aarey route is diverted via Seepz-Marol Maroshi-JVLR.
- Andheri: The subway was temporarily closed to vehicular traffic and traffic was diverted to SV Road.
According to the IMD, Mumbai received 91 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours till 8 am on Saturday, with the eastern and western suburbs recording 87 mm and 93 mm of rainfall respectively. The IMD expects moderate to heavy rains in Mumbai and Pune in the coming days.
