The Haryana government on Sunday ordered a 24-hour suspension of mobile internet and bulk messaging services in Nuh district ahead of the Jalabhishek Yatra in Braj Mandal, which was hit by violence last year.
As per the orders of Haryana Chief Secretary (Home) Anurag Rastogi, internet services in the district will remain suspended from 6 pm on Sunday to 6 pm on Monday.
“…there are apprehensions of causing tension, annoyance, disturbance, damage to public and private property and disturbance of public peace and tranquility in Nuh area…” read the order submitted by the deputy director of Haryana CID and a deputy Commissioner.

Meanwhile, Nuh police said that strict security measures have been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the Yatra.
On July 31 last year, two home guards were killed and at least 15 people, including several policemen, were injured when a mob in Haryana's Bonnu district tried to stop a Hindu religious procession by pelting stones and setting cars on fire. .
That same night, a mob attacked a mosque in Gurgaon and killed the mosque's Naib Imam.
At least six people were killed and dozens injured after inter-religious clashes broke out.
The then-BJP government in the state, led by Manohar Khattar, drew sharp criticism from the opposition parties over the violence.
