NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Rain fell across much of the area on Sunday, with some areas experiencing street flooding. A flash flood warning is in effect for some Florida parishes until 5:30 p.m. As always, avoid driving through flooded areas. Most activity will dissipate later this afternoon and evening. More rain is coming as the week progresses.
The main threat this week will be heavy rain. Storms can produce torrential downpours that, if not moving significantly, can cause isolated streets to be flooded. Isolated strong gusts are also possible. Rainfall averages are expected to average 3-5 inches over the next seven days, but locally higher amounts are possible with heavy downpours.
Most of the rainfall will taper off during the evening and overnight hours. Fortunately, conditions are calm in the tropics and should remain that way over the next week to 10 days.
