ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Get ready for another great day in Rochester! Skies are expected to be mostly clear throughout the day as temperatures soar into the 80s. A weak cold front will move through the area late this morning and continue into the afternoon. This will allow some clouds to return to the area, with the possibility of a scattered shower or two. The chance of rainfall from this front is no higher than 10-20%. Nighttime temperatures will drop into the mid-60s under mostly clear skies.
Our work week starts off mostly dry on Monday. In the morning, some clouds return to the area and temperatures begin to reach the mid-60s. Temperatures will climb back into the upper to lower 80s under partly cloudy skies. As we move into the evening, a few showers are possible and maybe even a thunderstorm. These showers will continue into the night and into Tuesday morning. It will rain most of Tuesday. Overnight showers/thunderstorms will continue through much of the morning before moving out of the area. However, that's not the only chance for rain on Tuesday. A few thunderstorms are also possible Tuesday afternoon and evening. Temperatures stayed relatively warm with lows overnight, only dipping into the mid-60s.
We'll have more chances to see scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the mid-80s. These are the two days with the highest chance of rain. Going into Friday, those opportunities start to diminish, but there are still opportunities. Highs will remain in the low to mid 80s.
It looks like high pressure will begin to dominate our skies next weekend. Temperatures will begin to slowly rise, with highs returning to around 80 degrees next weekend. As we enter late July and early August, there are also some signs that the heat is starting to pick up.
