    Below normal temperatures expected in Killeen area, scattered storms possible | Local News

    Rain is expected to return in the Killeen-Cavazosburg area and temperatures will return to the mid-80s.

    Rain is possible every day this week as two high-pressure systems jostle for position over Texas, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

    Meteorologist Myles Longfield said there is so much humidity in the area that storms are possible throughout the week, like Sunday.

    Clouds are rolling in Sunday with some scattered storms in the area, with the potential for more storms Monday night. The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of precipitation after 10 a.m., with showers and possible thunderstorms. New rainfall amounts of between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch are expected.

    Overnight, the chance of precipitation is 60%, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m.

    Tuesday, there's a chance of showers and a chance of thunderstorms. The probability of rainfall is 60%, and there will be a northwest wind of about level 5 in the afternoon, turning to southeast wind. The chance of rain drops to 30% Tuesday night, mainly after 1 a.m.

    On Wednesday, there is a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. sex dropped to 20%. As the southeasterly wind changes to a south-southeast wind, cloudy skies are expected at night with a temperature of about 69 degrees.

    There is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. Skies will be partly clear, with a high near 86 degrees, and calm winds blowing eastward around 5 mph. Overnight, the chance of showers drops to 20% after midnight. Partly cloudy conditions will drop into the low 70s.

    There is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday. Skies will be partly clear and the high is expected to be near 86 degrees.

    Saturday, there's a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, but with partly sunny conditions, the high will be near 88 degrees. There is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, with low temperatures expected to be around 73 degrees.

    Sunday, there's a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms under partly sunny conditions, with a high near 89 degrees.
