Monday's high is expected to be in the mid-80s, with partly cloudy to sunny skies and a light northeasterly breeze.
What's the weather like on Monday?
The chance of showers or storms in the Tulsa metro area remains low at 10% or below. Slightly higher chances along and south of Interstate 40 late Monday into the evening.
Our weather pattern is pretty stable right now, but we have a moderately strong ridge to the west and a weak trough across the central Plains and Midwest.
Oklahoma will be in between these systems over the next few days. To the south, a weak surface front is nearly stationary over southern Oklahoma Monday morning and will likely remain there throughout the day.
This situation could trigger isolated showers and thunderstorms, primarily favoring southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas on Monday afternoon and again on Tuesday.
Temperatures will be in the mid-60s Tuesday morning, rising to the mid-90s in the afternoon. As we move through the rest of the week, lows are expected to be in the low 70s and highs in the low 90s.
However, as the low-pressure trough gradually moves eastward and the boundary becomes diffuse, its impact on southeastern my country will weaken.
Heat index values may climb to near or slightly above 100 degrees by Friday and into the weekend.
Looking ahead, data suggests another intermediate wave will approach the southern Plains Thursday night or early Friday. This could bring more showers or thunderstorms to parts of our region, although the chance remains low.
EMSA Thermal Safety Tips:
- Prehydration is key to preventing heat-related illnesses. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte-replenishing drinks before and during prolonged exposure to summer heat.
- If working outdoors, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and rest in the shade.
- Contains no alcohol or caffeine.
- If you don't have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space during the day (such as a library or mall).
- Don't limit the use of air conditioning.
- If working outdoors, use a buddy system and check on older neighbors.
- Keep your phone with you at all times when you are outdoors, including while walking, running errands, doing yard work, or during sports and physical activities.
