The NBC 5 storm team said the Chicago weather forecast early Monday morning called for locally dense fog and low visibility in some areas.
Visibility was particularly reduced in Aurora, DeKalb and Romeoville, according to NBC 5 Meteorologist Alicia Roman.
“Scattered dense fog is developing over portions of interior northern Illinois,” the National Weather Service said in a release to X early Monday morning. “If you encounter fog during the first part of your commute, slow down and turn on your low-beam headlights.”
Roman said the fog is expected to lift late Monday morning and the weather will be mostly sunny with some clouds.
“A beautiful summer day,” Roman said.
Monday's highs are expected to be in the mid-80s, but cooler along the lake area. The chance of showers or storms is lower Monday afternoon, with a higher chance of rain and storms Tuesday and Wednesday, Roman said.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 70s and lower 80s through midweek, with a cold front arriving Wednesday, NBC 5 Storm Team reports. By the weekend, temperatures are expected to climb back into the 80s and 90s, Roman said.
