    Weather update: Heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Mumbai in northern India over the next four to five days

    Weather updates: Mumbai is likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next four to five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday. Heavy rainfall continues to lash the city and an “orange” alert has been issued in Konkan district.

    Mumbai recorded 93 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours from Saturday to Sunday morning. The city's rainfall exceeded 100 mm for three consecutive days.

    In the next three days, the meteorological department has issued a “yellow alert” specifically for the city of Mumbai, with heavy rainfall continuing in some areas.

    According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Shahaji Nagar Municipal School in Trombe received 155.6 mm of rainfall between 8 am and 3 pm on Sunday. This is followed by 'N' department office (151.1 mm), Nutan Vidyamandir in Mankhurd (149.6 mm) and Adarsh ​​Nagar in Worli (129.2 mm).

    Over the next five days, the agency expects considerable widespread light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning over eastern Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The IMD has predicted severe to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning in Himachal Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday.

    Rainfall is expected in the following districts: Hamirpur (Sujanpur Tihra, Hamirpur), Bilaspur (Swarghat, Bilaspur), Chamba Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu, Mandi (Sarkaghat, Dharmpur, Slapper, Kotli, Mandi, Sundernagar) and Kangra (Dharan) Sara, Jaisinpur).

    Meanwhile, a cyclonic depression over the Bay of Bengal is bringing heavy rains to several parts of Odisha. In Malkangiri district, rains affected 1,045 villages in 111 panchayats, affecting around 7,300 people. According to the IMD forecast, the depression is expected to pass northwestward over Chhattisgarh and gradually deteriorate into a low pressure area in the next 12 hours.
