Environment Canada is warning of possible tornadoes in central Interior British Columbia, and severe thunderstorms could bring heavy rain and nickel-sized hail.
A weather warning issued on Monday said a string of severe storms was moving north at about 50 km/h south of Tabboul Ridge.
The weather agency said winds of up to 70km/h were possible in the Fraser Gorge, including Litton, but gusts were expected to weaken by Monday night.
It added on social media platform X that there was also a tornado risk in Williston and McGregor.
Environment Canada said more than 20 communities in British Columbia remain under heat warnings as daytime temperatures in the Okanagan and several other areas hover in the mid-30s, though the heat is expected to subside on Tuesday.
The agency said special air quality statements have been issued for many areas due to wildfire smoke being “widespread across the province.”
