The focus of the threat will be its impact on commuters, travelers and anyone who must work outdoors.
The stagnant border across southeastern Texas will be combined with the high-rise lowlands across the southern United States.
While it won't rain every day, heavy rain is expected. Rain chances will increase on Monday, but are expected to peak on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Extra time is a must when commuting, especially mid-week.
Rainfall totals can increase rapidly, especially if heavy downpours continue. Rainfall amounts of more than 6 to 8 inches are possible in some areas by Wednesday morning alone, with the highest chance of rainfall expected to last through Thursday.
As a result, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of flooding for portions of Southeast Texas Tuesday through Wednesday. By then, the ground will be saturated and flooding will become easier to achieve.
Overall street flooding and high water levels will be the main concern this week. Over time, water levels in bays and creeks will begin to rise, but no major flooding is expected at this time.
Rain chances will be stubbornly reduced, but conditions should start to gradually improve by the weekend. By the end of next week, rain chances will decrease from widespread to scattered, and high temperatures will slowly return to the upper 80s.
