INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Central Indiana is bracing for severe weather this afternoon and evening. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop over the northern half of central Indiana and move southward throughout the evening. These storms can bring damaging winds and large hail.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the highest local risks include wind gusts exceeding 60 mph and the possibility of flash flooding from heavy rainfall. Although tornadoes are unlikely, the potential for significant storm impacts remains high. Residents are advised to remain alert and monitor local weather updates.
Temperatures will start at 67°F today and rise to 86°F by the afternoon. There is a 50% chance of thunderstorms, with severe weather expected later in the day. Thunderstorms are expected to develop around mid-afternoon and continue into the evening, affecting areas such as Indianapolis, Lafayette, Kokomo and Muncie.
The rest of the week is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 90s. Thursday and Friday will be sunny with a high of 84°F, followed by partly cloudy skies over the weekend with temperatures around 86°F. Early next week, another round of thunderstorms is expected on Monday, with highs reaching 88°F.
