Dombivli resident K Shriniwas allegedly under stress over financial worries
A 38-year-old engineer allegedly jumped from Mumbai's Atal Setu sea bridge on Wednesday afternoon, police said. An official said late at night that a search was underway for him. K Shriniwas, a resident of Dombivli, was allegedly under stress due to financial worries.
He jumped into the sea after parking his car at the Nhava Sheva end of the Mumbai Cross-Port Link, also known as Atal Setu, around 12.30 pm, the official added. The official further stated that Shrinivas left the residence around 11.30 pm on Tuesday and had a phone call with his wife and four-year-old daughter hours before taking this drastic step.
According to his family, he faced severe financial problems. The official said that in 2023, while working in Kuwait, he tried to end his life by drinking floor cleaner liquid.
On March 20, a female doctor in Thane city also committed suicide by jumping from a building in Atal Sethu.
