BISMARCK, N.D. – North Dakota remains on alert for fire weather conditions as an upper-level trough of low pressure moves eastward across the region. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center is predicting isolated dry thunderstorms Thursday, which could ignite wildfires in areas receiving fuel.
The National Weather Service said thunderstorms will bring wet and dry conditions, complicating fire risk forecasts. Fire weather conditions are expected to intensify across the southern Cascades and northern Great Plains, affecting all of North Dakota.
Residents are advised to stay informed about the latest weather conditions and take necessary precautions, especially in dry, fuel-rich areas. Strong southerly winds and hot, dry conditions are expected to continue into the evening, increasing the risk of wildfires. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor and provide updates.
