    Showers and storms ahead of drought today – Finger Lakes Weather

    A weak low pressure area is moving across Ontario, Canada and will move to our north today.

    This low will drag a cold front through the area, causing some showers and storms today.

    Most areas should remain dry throughout the process morning and early afternoon, but the possibility of showers or storms cannot be completely ruled out. During this time, the sky will be a mix of sunshine and clouds.

    Southwest winds will reach 10 mph, causing temperatures to rise into the 80s in most areas. The dew point will be in the mid to upper 60s and it will also feel muggy.

    Showers and storms will start to become more common second half of the afternoonlingering on evening Hour.

    As single storm cells move eastward through the region, they may grow into small groups of storms. It rains in most places, but there are bound to be leaks within the coverage area.

    Severe weather is not expected to be a major issue today, although some storms may be stronger or weaker, producing some strong wind gusts and even small hail occasionally. Brief downpours and lightning will also be minor concerns.

    The rain should move eastward and dissipate tonight, but scattered light rain cannot be ruled out overnight and enter Thursday morning was early. Overnight lows will fall into the mid-60s.

    A fresh northwest wind will develop behind the cold front on Thursday, lowering dew points and temperatures. Temperatures won't reach the 80s in most areas tomorrow, with dew points dropping into the 50s afternoon.

    A dominant high pressure system will move into and move through the region over the next few days, bringing a prolonged period of dry weather.

    Chances of precipitation will gradually increase Tuesday, However, most areas will remain dry. Temperatures will be slightly affected with increased cloud cover and highs reaching the mid-80s. By then, the weather will be very muggy, with dew points in the mid-60s.

    The best chance of rain next week seems to be Wednesday, Although some scattered showers may continue later in the week and weekends. Temperatures will remain warm and dew points will continue to rise early august.
