Many storms are accompanied by lightning and torrential downpours. The tropical moisture will subside a bit, which means we'll see fewer storms throughout the afternoon. With that in mind, we will still have scattered storms tonight. However, by 6pm to 11pm we will see another surge in humidity, resulting in increased storm coverage, just in time for your evening commute and plans. . We are expecting near record high temperatures in Southwest Florida. in Ft. Myers, we're forecasting a high of 95 degrees, just 1 degree off the record set in 1990 (96 degrees). Over the past few days, we've been dealing with tropical moisture in the atmosphere, causing lots of showers and storms across the region. Many of these storms are accompanied by lots of lightning and heavy downpours.
Today we're tracking some subtle changes in the atmosphere. The tropical moisture will subside a bit, which means we'll see fewer storms throughout the afternoon. With that in mind, we will still have scattered storms tonight.
We may only see a few scattered showers throughout the afternoon as the humidity drops. However, by 6 pm to 11 pm we will see another surge in humidity leading to increased storm coverage, just in time for your evening commute and plans.
This will send temperatures soaring as the storm is expected to become more dispersed later in the day. We expect high temperatures to be near record levels in Southwest Florida. in Ft. Myers Our forecast is for a high of 95 degrees, just 1 degree off the record set in 1990 (96 degrees).
As the work week ends, we will continue to see a drop in available moisture in the atmosphere, resulting in slightly fewer storms in the afternoon and evening.
However, it is still summer and easterly winds dominate, with sporadic storms still occurring along the coast.
