MISSOULA — Monday was hot and smoky. Highs will again be in the mid 90s to low 100s. The smoke will be the only thing stopping the temperature from taking full advantage.
Monsoon moisture will move into southwestern Montana this afternoon and evening, bringing a chance for isolated thunderstorms. These will be most widespread along and south of the I-90 corridor. Gusty winds and lightning will be the main issues here.
The weather will continue to be very hot on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the 90s and 100s. There will also be gusty winds on both days, leading to increased fire danger.
Finally, the hot weather is coming to an end as cooler air masses move into the end of the week. Highs will drop into the mid-80s Friday and continue into the weekend. In addition, changes in wind direction may also cause the haze to ease.
