The IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Mumbai over the next two days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Maharashtra, predicting heavy rainfall. Rains continued in Mumbai overnight and heavier showers are expected in the next two days.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, predicting moderate to heavy rain in the city and suburbs, with the possibility of heavy rain in isolated areas.
According to the IMD's weather bulletin, heavy rainfall is expected to occur at isolated places in Konkan and Goa from July 25 to 27, and in Madhya Maharashtra from July 26 to 27.
Continuous rains overnight have caused severe flooding in many places in Mumbai.
Pune schools closed due to heavy rain warning
The IMD has issued an orange alert for Pune, Thane, Palghar and Ratnagiri districts. Pune Collector Suhas Dewas has ordered closure of schools in Pune city and nearby areas as heavy rainfall is expected in the area.
The school closure order extends to Pimpri Chinchwad, Bhor, Velhe, Maval, Mulshi and Khadakwasla.
IMD predicts light showers in Delhi
The capital received a slight respite from persistently wet weather after light showers on Thursday morning. The Met Office predicts more showers in most parts of Delhi.
