The Karnataka Medical Registration and Certain Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 defines intentional insult as “the use of words, figures or gestures with intent to insult, humiliate, humiliate, harass or abuse medical personnel…”
The Karnataka government has introduced a bill to provide punishment for intentionally insulting healthcare workers such as registered doctors, nurses, medical students and paramedical staff. The bill also provides that anyone found guilty will be punished with imprisonment for a term up to three months or a fine up to 10,000 rupees.
The bill states that “any offense committed under sections 3, 3A and 4A shall be cognizable and non-bailable.”
