Days after a 24-year-old woman from Bihar was brutally murdered inside a PG in Bengaluru, the police have managed to retrieve the CCTV footage from the day of the heinous crime.
According to CCTV footage, the accused can be seen entering the PG before he knocked on the door and slit her throat even as the victim screamed for help.
The crime occurred between 11:10 and 11:30 p.m. The video also shows the defendant fleeing the crime scene.
What on earth happened?
A 24-year-old woman from Bihar, Kruthi Kumari, was brutally murdered at her PG residence in Bengaluru late on Tuesday night. Kumari was working in a private company in the city and recently moved to VR Layout PG in Koramangala.
Koramangala police reached the spot and launched a thorough investigation. Additional police chief Raman Gupta confirmed that a case had been registered and said the victim knew the perpetrators. Efforts are on to arrest the suspects who are currently at large, he added.
Police investigate roommate's role
According to police, the attacker entered the PG after the caretaker, who also lived in the PG, went to have dinner.
The police also suspected that the deceased's former female roommate had a connection with the attacker who had recently moved out of PG. It was believed that the attacker knew the deceased through his former roommate.
Preliminary investigations also suggest there may be a romantic angle to the crime. A young man is suspected of killing Kruti Kumari, with whom she was romantically involved.
Notably, the roommate was a classmate of the attacker and Krithi Kumari worked in the same company as her former roommate.
The accused's phone was switched off and his last known location was Bengaluru, police said. A task force has been dispatched to arrest the suspect as soon as possible
Police are yet to record the statement of Kruti's former roommate.
