    Kamala Rally Milwaukee

Vice President Kamala Harris, now looking likely to be the Democratic presidential candidate, has blamed the unprecedented migrant crisis at the U.S. border on insufficient “climate adaptation.” [emphasis, links added]

Harris — whom President Joe Biden appointed as “border czar” to help manage the administration’s border strategy — Claims lack of “climate resilience” and “climate adaptability” is the root cause of illegal immigration During a panel discussion in May 2021.

Since the Biden administration took office in January 2021, at least There are 6.7 million illegal immigrants at the U.S. southern border alone.according to the House Homeland Security Committee and the Oversight and Accountability Committee.

“We want to help people find hope at home. So we focus on addressing the serious elements and the root causes of immigration. I think that's an important distinction. We have to focus on both.

“First, the acute factors: the disasters that are causing people to leave now. Hurricanes, pandemics, droughts and extreme food insecurity,” Harris told attendees at the Americas Conference in Washington in May 2021.

“Then there are long-standing problems and root causes. I’m thinking of corruption, violence and poverty, lack of economic opportunity, lack of climate adaptation and climate resilience, lack of good governance.

Specifically, Harris is tasked with addressing the “root causes” of mass immigration in the United States, not overseeing all aspects of the government's border policy and enforcement.

While Harris said climate change and a lack of “climate resilience” in other parts of the world are largely responsible for the ongoing surge in immigration, Trump administration officials, Republicans and immigrants themselves argue: Praise for Biden administration's departure from Trump-era border policies that incentivized immigrants to come to U.S.

In addition to recording encounters, Law enforcement recorded 380 encounters with individuals in the Terrorist Screening Profile between ports of entry [from] FY2021 to dateaccording to Customs and Border Patrol data.

Between fiscal years 2017 and 2020, there were 14 such encounters at the U.S. border.

When Harris was first assigned to handle the issue, some corporate media previously dubbed her a “border czar.”

However, As Harris appears likely to be the nominee, some media outlets have begun clarifying their previous reports; Axios issued an editor's note in response to a story clarifying that the outlet's past reporting using the term “border czar” was incorrect.

Many of Harris' past positions, including on climate change and government's role in solving it, are now resurfacing as she appears to be the Democratic presidential nominee following Biden's decision to drop out of the race.

Although she has reclaimed some positions over the years, Harris supports the fracking ban, co-sponsored the Green New Deal, supports the plastic straw ban, and said she would favor changing dietary guidelines Reduce red meat consumption.
