    Green extremists disrupt flights at major European airports for second day in a row

    Flights at Germany's busiest Frankfurt airport were temporarily grounded on Thursday as climate activists glued themselves to the ground inside the airport, authorities said. More than 100 flights were cancelled. [emphasis, links added]

    Federal police said several demonstrators entered the airport in the early morning, dpa reported.

    The Last Generation group said there were six protesters Dig holes in the perimeter fence and head to the track on foot, bike and skateboard.

    Shortly before 8 a.m., the airport said flight operations were “gradually resuming.” Shortly after, it said on social network X that all runways were back in operation.

    The bill, which still needs approval from lawmakers, foresees jail terms of up to two years for anyone who knowingly trespasses on an airport's airside areas, such as taxiways or runways, endangers civil aviation or allows others to do so.

    So far, Such trespassing is punishable only by a fine. In some cases, the penalty is up to five years in prison.
