Rain clouds blanketed much of Paris on Friday morning as the weather threatened Olympic organizers' march.
As of noon Friday, temperatures in Paris are expected to be around 68 degrees, but there will be enough cloud cover that there's a good chance of rain throughout the night. Météo-France, which is similar to the US National Weather Service, said the rain “will continue, sometimes with moderate intensity, until midnight”.
Paris organizers have previously said the opening ceremony will go ahead as planned if it rains, although Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo told CNN on Thursday that bad weather could cause problems.
“I think if it rained[during the opening ceremony]it would be a problem because there are a lot of moments in this show that need to be very safe for the dancers,” Hidalgo told CNN. It can't rain, and it can't be without water.

Seine River Opening Ceremony
This year's ceremony will break with tradition, with a parade of countries taking place on the Seine in Paris. This year will be the first time in the history of the modern games that the opening ceremony will be held outside the stadium.
From a technological and television perspective, the event will be the most complex ever. The Olympic Broadcasting Service will install 100 cameras along the parade route, and each delegation will be able to use mobile phone cameras on board to broadcast live. NBC will track the route of Team USA, which will be second to last as the country hosts the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
