BOSTON – The weekend weather is looking good in Massachusetts, although you may notice some mist in the sky from wildfires on the West Coast.
If you were outside on Thursday night, you may have noticed a drastic change in the feel of the air. Humidity levels dropped significantly yesterday and the overhead air mass will remain fairly dry and comfortable through the weekend.
Wildfire smoke visible
Friday will be a sunny day. However, you may notice a bit of a tint or light haze in the air in some places. This is the return of our old friend. You may remember last year’s ongoing wildfires in Canada? Well, now is the season. Currently, there are uncontrolled wildfires Throughout Pacific NorthwestNorthern California and Western Canada.
Most of the smoke from distant fires entered the upper Midwest and central Canada, but a small amount also passed through Ohio, Pennsylvania and eventually into southern New England. These smokes are delivered to us at high concentrations in the atmosphere, so there is no need to worry about poor air quality at the ground level.
The heaviest smoke is currently concentrated in Connecticut and Rhode Island, with much of the smoke expected to flow south into the ocean. However, be aware that you may detect a bit of mist in the sky again on Friday and into the weekend as another “lobe” rotates.
Here's the weather forecast for Saturday. Likewise, smoke levels are quite low in New England.
What's the weather forecast for the weekend?
Now, let’s take a look at the exciting weekend weather forecast! If you have tickets to the big series between the Red Sox and Yankees at Fenway, the predictions couldn't be better! This also applies to any plans you have this weekend from mountaintops to seaside. All outdoor plans are available!
We will start to see some high clouds moving in from the south and east during the second half of Sunday. This is our next system to look at. A rather strange area of low pressure will move toward southern New England Sunday night and Monday. It almost has the appearance of a tropical system, but currently it looks like it will only bring some clouds and showers during the day on Monday. We'll be keeping a close eye throughout the weekend just in case.
