MISSOULA — Impact from Wednesday night's storm continues in Missoula.
A massive citywide power outage was ongoing as of Friday morning, which continues to impact water supplies in parts of Missoula.
Residents and businesses — especially in the South Mountain and Lewis and Clark areas — are asked to continue to conserve water.
Missoula Water is still running on generators and only 50% of its tanks are online, according to the news release.
Residents are asked not to use water for lawns and to “limit household use,” including use of washing machines, dishwashers and showers or tubs.
County and city public works departments are continuing to prioritize debris removal within public rights-of-way such as streets, roadways, sidewalks and alleys.
Friday's update said officials are also working to establish public waste drop-off sites in Lolo, Frenchtown and Seeley Lake.
The following drop-off sites are still available for residents to drop off storm debris free of charge:
- Garden City Compost (1125 Clark Fork Lane, open Friday and Saturday 8-5)
- Fort Missoula (36th Street lot)
- Larchmont Triangle (Post Siding Road entrance)
- McCormick Park (East End)
- Fort Missoula Pond (accessed via 40th Avenue, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
(Dump debris only in designated areas and follow all site instructions.)
Officials are asking people to use the Garden City compost site if possible because all the debris that falls from other compost sites will be there.
The Montana Red Cross is located at the Missoula Elections Center on North Russell Street where people can charge essential personal devices, including medical equipment. The center is open from 10am to 8pm and provides electricity, air conditioning and shower facilities. (People should bring their own towels and toiletries).
